Mini Sports
The programme is designed to develop basic skills and understanding of the game for 5 to 9 year olds. It is designed to run in conjunction with and enhance any other sports training or coaching the player may already be receiving or have had previously.
The aim of the Mini Sports programme is for children to enjoy learning different sports and to have the knowledge to develop their game after they have completed the programme.
Aims of the Mini Sports Programme
- Positive, stimulating introduction to sports participation.
- Social interaction and communication.
- Development of leadership qualities.
- Development of teamwork and cooperation.
- Develop confidence, physical ability and endurance.
- Sportsmanship– winning isn’t everything.
Beginners
Ages: 5 to 6 1/2 years.
Duration: + - 38 weeks, 1 hour
Content:
- Introduction to four different team sports: Hockey, Soccer, Baseball, Cricket
- Incorporating all the skills developed in Levels 1, 2 and 3 into the team sports covered in the programme.
- Learning specific skills needed to play the game and an introduction to basic rules of the game.
- The emphasis on the beginner’s stage is “playing the game”.
Seasonal Sports
Ages: 6 to 9 years
Content:
It is in this stage, general competence is achieved, and acquiring the knowledge related to the sports covered.
- Technical application of the skills learned in the beginner’s stage.
- Children are involved in learning drills and various positions of the sports.
- Emphasism on technique and the importance of teamwork.
- Greater understanding of the rules and structure of the game.
- Physical fitness relating to sport.
- Encouraging competitiveness without forgetting the essence of sports- sportsmanship!
- Join the mini cricket, mini hockey and soccer teams and compete in fun matches!
